When you think of losing weight and getting slimmer, you probably think of having weight loss pills, diet plans, and other exercises. Here I’m going to give you my tiny tips to get weight loss quickly with water.
Drinking more water leads you to shed more pounds on your body. It’s an old dieting secret but now, science has added to it by highlighting the fact that drinking 2-3 cups of water before every meal will make you eat less and hence will add greatly to your weight loss.
After about three months, a study found that the dieters who increase their water intake by 2 cups before every meal lost 5lbs more than the dieters who didn’t increase their water intake. This study included middle-aged people and older adults, but studies proved later on that having more water helps reducing fats and weight and it applies to every aged person.
Brenda Davy, a nutrition researcher at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, reported in her Journal of the American Dietetic Association that older adults who drank 2 cups of water half an hour before breakfast ate 75 fewer calories (or 13% less) than those who hadn’t drunk water before the meal. People of both groups were obese and allowed to take as many meals as they wanted.
Another study that took place was that they had 48 people divided into two groups. People were 55-75 of age and allowed to eat what they want but this diet must be healthy and was not allowed to have more than 1200-1500 calories per day.
The first group of dieters was restricted to take a 16-ounce bottle of water before every meal. The other group was given water but not given any specifications of what amount of water is to be consumed each day.
Twelve weeks later, the water drinkers were found to lose an average of 15.5 lbs while those who didn’t drink any water lost 11lbs of fat. That’s 44% more weight loss all because of water.
Eight Glasses a Day
Despite the fact that most weight loss plans nowadays require 8 glasses of water intake daily, few experiments and studies were done to see if this really helps or not. In this effort, Michael Boschmann, MD, and colleagues from Berlin’s Franz-Volhard Clinical Research Center, kept track of energy consumption among seven men and seven women who were healthy and not overweight.
On drinking approx. 17 ounces of water each day, both men and women were observed to have an increased metabolic rate by 30%. This increment occurred within 10 minutes after drinking water and reached a maximum after about 30-40 minutes.
The researchers also estimate that over the course of a year, a person who increases his water intake by 1.5 liters a day would be able to burn an extra of 17,400 calories for a weight loss of approximately 5 lbs.
Research proves that when you’ve to drink up all the water you need, you’ll very quickly observe a decrement in your appetite. If you want to be healthier as well as want to lose weight quickly, including water in your everyday diet is a must.
