Extreme diets promise huge weight loss in a short period of time but that is a short period result and it increases a risk for the health, usually is not mentioned. However, in some cases extreme diet is necessary.
Negative sides of the extreme diets:
- fast successes in the weight loss mostly is because of the loss of the water in the body and fast loss of albumen in muscles, muscles consist approximately of 70% of water;
- only a small amount of fat is lost during a short time of extreme diet;
- exchange of energy decreases, that means, that the body is trying to survive in conditions of low amount of the energy, basic metabolism slows down;
- after diet human usually returns to his eating habits, during which fat cells are trying to restore their reserves often larger than before (yo-yo effect).
Short time fasting may cause the eating disorder:
- whatever: eggs, pine apples, potatoes or grains, the principles of the extreme diet are extremely uniform choice of products what causes lack of different nutrients what appears as tiredness, sense of hunger, disorder of concentration and metabolism;
- very often dieting and refusing of healthy energy and ingesting of nutrients may cause eating disorders like: swallowing attacks and/or bulimia;
- short time results stimulate the motivation only in the beginning but uncontrolled hunger attacks and unwanted yo-yo effect cause sense of failure, depression and eating disorders;
However fast weight loss isn’t unhealthy always:
- at extreme obesity it can be very useful and even can save life;
- formula-diets can be useful in the beginning of the long time weight loss program;
- it is recommended to diet under supervision of a doctor, dietician and therapist;
- for people with a huge overweight after a fast loss of it complications can be: giddiness, weakness, heart disorder, depression, that’s why it must be done only under the doctors supervision.
